As much as I love traveling, I can agree that packing can be a pain. Without the ability to take your whole wardrobe, how can you be sure you'll be ready for any situation? Luckily, my parents love to travel, and I've become quite the efficient packer. Here are some of my tips for packing:
Get a good dobb kitt!! I find that having a dopp kit that I keep prepared helps me make sure I don't forget essentials. Here are the contents of my dopp kit:
- body butter (it's super rich so I find I need lot a less then normal moisturizer
- shampoo and conditioner - I know that most hotels provide these but I like to make sure to have the brand I like
- hair spray
- Cetaphil - My go cleanser cause its super gentle
- deodorant - who likes to smell
- mini - perfume
- make-up wipes - just in case I get lazy
- shaving creams
- razor and cartridge
Roll everything - the less folds you have the less wrinkles you'll have to worry about For a week, you need no more then 2 handbags - a clutch and a handbag that you carry Find a great makeup palette so you don't need a whole bag of make-up. I usually take one eye-shadow palette, mascara, eye-liner, lipstick, and lip-gloss. Take multi-tasking shoes - Flats, sneakers, heels ALWAYS take a sweater For clothes I usually plan one outfit for each day. Half of which are casual, the other half which are slightly more dressy (think summer dress or printed shorts) so I can go from day to night effortlessly. I'll also pack a couple of dresses, just in case I need a really dressy outfit. And I'll wear jeans on the flight - jeans are a great basic and incredibly versatile. If I have room, I'll also add some tights just in case. Accessories - pick smart! I always pack piece that can multitask, but still make a casual outfit look more dressy. Straightner - I love to wear my hair curly but after learning to curl my hair with a straightener, life has been so much easier. If you haven't mastered that yet, try investing in those really cute mini-curling iron, just to save some room. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS leave room to shop!
All of this MAY sound like a lot, but you'll be able to fit this in a carry-on! Hope this helps your traveling as much as it's helped mine!
